The gears and pullies in Jude's mind began to turn. Where could they possibly hide from the Prefect, and any other Prefects he might notify. Just as Jude was caught in thought the Prefect managed to point his wand in the air which emitted a small spark. Clearly this must have been to signal the others that were patrolling the grounds. Jude mentally kicked himself. How could he possibly have forgotten to take the Prefect's wand from him!? But he let it go as there was nothing Jude could do about it now. Sighing sadly, Jude peered around the grounds. They couldn't try to get back to the common room. All the other Prefects would be making their way towards the lake now and they'd definately find him and Abbie.
Jude's mind continued to rush. Time was of the essence and they did not have much of it. Eventually his gaze landed upon the only possibility he could think of. The Forbidden Forest. Jude was pleased to see her nod, and he gave Abbie a small smile back. She'd definately had to trust him if they were going to hide there. Most students didn't venture in to the forest during the day, let alone at an hour this late. He felt Abbie grip his hand and he held on to her firmly, suddenly feeling very protective over her. He began at a quick pace towards the forest but not fast enough to be running as much as he could. Abbie was far smaller than he was and there would be no way she would be able to keep up with him successfully.
The forest grew nearer and Jude glanced behind him. There were a few more prefects gathering around the lake and trying to figure out what was wrong with the Ravenclaw boy as never ending boils continued to errupt all over him. Jude slowed his pace at the edge of the forest, then situated himself behind a large tree. Looking at the scene by the lake, he noticed the rest of the prefects weren't as daft as the one Jude hexed had been. They had cured him of the spell, and were now staring around frantically for the perpetrators. Jude was determined to not let Abbie get caught. Jude was expected to be found in a situation such as this, but not Abbie. It took a bit to convince Jude that she had actually broken the rules to come down to the lake in the first place.
He didn't think they could be seen from the shadows of the Forest, but backed up a bit anyway. He turned his back to the small bit of light from outside the forest and looked in to the empty blackness of the thick trees. As far as Jude could see, they weren't in any kind of danger, but he wasn't about to be responsible for anything that could happen to Abbie. It was all his mind could think about. There were so many things in the forest that the possibilities were endless. All Jude could do was wish that nothing bad would happen.
Jude looked to Abbie and tried to reassure her. "Listen, we'll get back to the common rooms as soon as we can. Those Prefects will get bored of looking for us eventually," he said. He stopped speaking and looked behind him at the mass of trees. "Don't worry," Jude added. "I won't let anything happen to you." Jude thought he was being very heroic. It wasn't a sort of feeling he was used. He was usually the one that was trying to destroy another person, not save them. Things were out of sorts tonight, and Jude supposed that this was just another one of them.

Abbie ran hand in hand with Jude, never even daring to look back. She was not aware of how many rules she had broken tonight, but knew that if anybody were to find out she would be in complete embarrassment. For one, she had kissed Jude. And she had been caught. And not by anybody she didn't know either. It was somebody who used to be her friend. It was somebody who would rat to her friends everything that happened tonight. So much for keeping this entire thing a secret.
She kept running, but was alarmed at the sound of a spell being cast in the air. Oh great. She tried to run faster as if to keep up with Jude. As she reached about to where he was, also noting that he slowed down to let her keep up, Abbie could tell the utter look of disgust on his face. She knew he was dreading something and it immediately occurred to her what it was. The prefect's wand. He had forgotten to take it. That spell that had been cast was something that wasn't supposed to happen. Jude knew it. So did Abbie. That was bad.
What seemed even worse was the fact that she had trusted him enough to let him lead her to the Forbidden Forest. As if running away wasn't bad, this could be disastrous. But, Abbie tried to keep close as they ran to the nearest pack of trees and entered. She could distinctly feel her heart dropping and her face becoming cold at the fact of what they had just done. Abbie had never been in the Forbidden Forest and even though it was clear that nothing could attack them when they weren't too far into the woods, she felt the sudden rush of eeriness. It seemed to distract her from everything around her and even her eyes couldn't focus on the Hogwarts grounds for they were busy scanning the entire area.
It was gloomy and it was almost as if no signs of life were present. No sign of hope for them, at least. But, that was only in Abbie's imagination. They would get out alive. They were right at the edge of the forest, anyway. It was nothing that should worry them in any way possible. Oh, but those trees were so high and they loomed over their heads with such a creepy aura that Abbie couldn't help but clutch Jude's sleeve for comfort. Like that would help.
Still, his words of re-assurance did raise her confidence and she now had a little bit of courage to escape from the sight of the woods and instead raise her attention to the grounds before them. Many prefects gathered around the boil infested teenager and were trying to question him by the looks of it. Yet, he was too busy screaming and crawling around on the grass to answer any of their questions. He obviously wanted them gone and Abbie felt so bad that she almost felt inclined to perform the counter curse. Luckily for Jude and herself, she did not know the counter curse (she was not exactly talented in the Dark Arts), so she kept in her hiding space with no complaints.
"How long to you expect him to be there?" she inquired, squinting her eyes at the boy squirming on the ground. His screams would not die and it almost pained her to see such an innocent soul going through so much torture. In reality, it did not hurt at all and it wasn't exactly affecting his body except for in appearance. With that in mind, Abbie's pain for the boy lessened a little. All he cared for was his looks. It was completely selfish. "Couldn't we sneak by or something?"

Watching the teenager almost transfixed Jude's lips even formed in to a small but satisfied smirk for a brief moment. Knowing that the Ravenclaw was in pain because of Jude's own actions made him feel powerful in the worst way possible. He was absorbed in his own arrogant thoughts that it took him a while to realize that Abbie had been talking. He turned his head to look at her. "Huh? Oh... I dunno, I don't reckon much longer," he replied, slightly out of it. He looked back to the scene and realized that they had better hurry up if they wanted to get back to the common room unnoticed.
Jude took a step forward, cracking a twig loudly by accident and froze where he was. Luckily the prefects were now busy talking among one another. They were too preoccupied to hear the slight noise. Jude looked back to Abbie and nodded. "Yeah, come on... Jude said in a lower more hushed voice. He was more worried now that they would be caught but he tried not to think about that. If there was one thing Jude knew about getting away with things, it was that you could never think negatively. The moment you doubted yourself you were doomed. With that in mind Jude held out his hand for Abbie to take and started to sneak out of the edge of the bushes. He leaned forward slightly so that his height wouldn't give him away so much.
The span of grass from the forest to the castle had never seemed longer than it was now. Occasionally Jude would glance back to the Prefects and make sure they weren't headed his way but he kept a determined mind set that they wouldn't be sacked. The process of getting back to the castle was a little weary, but the thought of being caught at any moment always excited Jude at least a little. The sun had almost risen now, so Jude stopped by the giant double doors to enter the school. They really didn't have any time to waste, but Jude only thought of Abbie. "There's your sunrise," he whispered in to her ear with a smile resting upon his features. He kissed her cheek before standing up straight and looking toward the edge of the lake. At least Abbie could appreciate the sun rise while he watched out for the prefects. They were starting to make their way back to their designated stations around the grounds now.
Jude pulled open the giant door and led Abbie in to the castle. They were still hand in hand, and Jude immediately started to feel guilty as they stood in the entrance hall. It was almost as if the lake had been an alternate reality for the night, but now that they were back in the castle, something made him remember that Abbie was Abbie and Jude was Jude. They were the most different people imaginable and yet here they were hand in hand. "I had a lot of fun with you tonight, Abbie," Jude said with the same smile still on his face. "But my lips are sealed I promise," he added, making a motion of locking his mouth shut. Jude knew that Abbie would hate to have anyone know about what had happened at the lake, so he would agree to keep this all a secret.
"Do you want me to walk you back to your common room? Jude asked. There was no point in hiding its location now. Abbie had already told him the Hufflepuff common room was in the dungeons like the Slytherin ones, so it wouldn't take him long to find the precise location anyhow. He thought, though, that she may want to go alone so as not to raise any suspicion for being with Jude Morte in the early morning.

So they went- sneaking out of the woods and into the clearing for all to see. Abbie could feel her heart thumping beneath her chest and she just knew that something bad was going to happen. She knew that one of the prefects would turn around suddenly and stupefy them before they even had the time to run. Abbie could only hope that the situation they were in would be for the better and that no harm would come their way. Although she had her major doubts, there was always that tinge of certainty that they would escape without any further disruption. If Jude owned up to his reputation then Abbie was positive that no harm would come her way. He was obviously the master of evading situations.
Of course, it did ease her own thoughts when Jude would do just the little things that he did. He would hold out his hand for her own leisure of taking it, he would stop and keep watch while she could watch the sun rise and he would even whisper sweet nothings into her ear while adding a complimentary peck on the cheek. If this was what the females at Hogwarts experienced every day with the other male students then Abbie was more than happy to be in a relationship. She had heard that having a boyfriend was amazing and worth all the pain of breaking up, but she had never believed it. Abbie was definitely a believer now.
Still, as she was standing there, watching the sun rise as Jude kept a look out on the prefects, Abbie couldn't help but wonder what Jude and her actually were. They had kissed, they were holding hands... they were acting like complete idiots, really. At least, from how they treated each other most days. Most days they were shooting insults at each other and Abbie would tell him how much he needed to grow up. But, it was oddly different now. Abbie wanted something with him. Maybe it was the rush of never having a boyfriend and wanting one so badly. But, she was positive that something was there.
Without so much of a warning, Jude clutched her hand once more and continued to trail down the path toward the castle. As the large oak doors were beginning to be drawn closer, she could see the reflection of the sun upon the lake very faintly. But, it was still there- bright and shining. And Abbie was suddenly happy that she had broken the rules. Maybe she could be more spontaneous more often. It seemed like a plausible plan, to be sure, but Abbie wouldn't really carry it through.
The two entered the hall as Abbie gently closed the doors behind her while trying her best to not make a sound. As she turned around to face Jude, he was already facing her with his usual sincere smile. At least, the smile that he had seemed to have developed during the past three hours. The smile that Abbie had just gotten acquainted with. The smile she now melted beneath. She returned the genuine smile before lowering her head slightly to hide her obviously embarrassed expression.
"I'm glad your lips are sealed," she commented, raising her head so that her eyes could meet his. "But, how are we going to keep this up, huh? I mean..." Abbie lowered her head again so that she avoided looking him in the eye. As she spotted the floor she recognized her feet shuffling once more as they usually did when she was unsure. "We can keep this up, right? We can do it, right?" She attempted to look at him once more and gave him her lop-sided smile as if trying to reassure herself and him that they could pull off a relationship such as this.
'Do you want me to walk you back to your common room?'. Abbie laughed half to herself as if realizing how silly she must have sounded just then. "Yea, yea... That might be best." she said beginning to walk toward the staircase leading down to the dungeons. Before even stepping on the first stair, she gently placed her hand upon the wall, gave a small sigh and finally descended.

Jude really didn't know what exactly he wanted from Abbie. He knew he liked her, a lot but he also knew that it would be near impossible for them to just go around together. Things were too complicated. He hated that, but it was his own fault. Jude found himself staring around as she asked him whether or not they'd be able to keep this all up. Jude really didn't know what to tell her. He wanted to have Abbie all to himself (which was selfish, but Jude wasn't exactly the most selfless person in the world), however he didn't know how it would all work out or if it even could work out. Jude stopped himself in mid-thought... He was Jude Morte. He got away with practically everything. Why should this be any more difficult? Jude would find a way... he always did. In his mind, there was no obstacle he couldn’t overcome.
He nodded simply and followed slightly behind Abbie as she led the way across the threshold to the dungeons with his hand resting on the small of her back. She sighed gently before descending the stairs, and Jude wondered whether everything that happened tonight didn’t make Abbie as happy as it made him. After all, Jude had practically shoved a mass amount of discomfort and indecision on Abbie in a matter of mere hours. It never occurred to Jude that maybe she wasn’t even ready for all this? Of course, it was typical for Jude to be thinking of himself all the time and no one else. He almost couldn’t help it.
He started to think that the feelings he had for Abbie weren’t completely mutual. She hated his kind. The typical Slytherins who thought that they ruled the world and would step on as many people as they wished to get where they wanted to go. She was opposed to everything he did and everything he said, and yet he was completely different today. There was another part of Jude that somehow told him that maybe she did really like him. Nevertheless Abbie was never one to be conniving, so he knew there really wasn’t anything he should be worried about. Jude was convinced she wouldn’t be going along with this to screw him over or anything. At least, that’s what his instinct told him.
Nervously, Jude cleared his throat while following her down the stairs. “Abbie, I’m sorry…” he managed to utter. “I didn’t mean to--- I don’t know,” he mumbled. He didn’t really know what to say to her but he knew he felt a deep guilt in his gut. Jude hardly ever felt guilty about things, and frankly he didn’t like this feeling all that much. He stuffed both hands in his pockets before rolling up one of his sleeves which had fallen back down along their journey. After a small bit of walking he did start to feel slightly better. Maybe what he had done wasn't so bad.

Jude seemed so different to Abbie now. He was being quite nice (which previously Abbie might have thought to be 'un-Jude-like'). But, Abbie accepted the fact that he was perfectly fine. She accepted that fact that they had just escaped prefects. Even though she had accepted it didn't mean she thought it was right, though. Just because she accepted it didn't mean she wanted to do it again. But, with what they had, what else would she have to go through to see him?
It was apparent that if they were going to keep this a secret then some measures would have to be taken in order to keep this going. Could Abbie really break anymore rules? She had broken one tonight just by getting out of her bed after hours and probably five more for just avoiding (and assisting in) harming that prefect. Not only that, but she had entered the Forbidden Forest. They hadn't exactly gone entirely into the Forest, but they had stepped foot onto it's dirt anyway and that counted as something. All in all, Abbie wasn't sure she would be too happy about breaking any more for Jude.
But, once she reached the bottom of the stairs and she turned around to look at him, Abbie thought that maybe it wouldn't be so bad. As long as she had that gorgeous face to look forward to then it couldn't be too bad. Yet, his sounds of doubt filled her head and she immediately grabbed his hand once what he had said had finally hit her. "I didn't think Jude Morte ever apologized for anything." she said, flashing him a lop-sided smile. Her words were filled with pure assurance, but inside she was starting to think that maybe he still thought this was a one-night thing. No, that just wasn't the Jude she knew. It was the Jude she used to know.
Abbie began to walk down the dark corridor hand-in-hand with him, trying to peer through the darkness. What she said earlier about the dungeons was obviously true. No sunlight ever beamed through these walls. Wizards didn't even have the common courtesy to make windows, did they? She knew she was close when the strong scent of the Kitchens filled her nose. Only a few steps more and the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room would be sitting right in front of Abbie. But, she suddenly stopped right in front of the portrait with various fruit.
Although Abbie liked Jude, she still was the same Hufflepuff devoted girl that she had been three hours ago. She still had her loyalty to the castle and at least some of the school rules. She wouldn't be unfaithful and reveal the entrance to the common room. She would feel terrible if she did. At least, more terrible than she already felt for breaking as many school rules as she had tonight. So, she stood, in front of Jude, letting his hand out of her hers as if to signal that it was finally time to leave. Although, Abbie wished he could have stayed. The next time they would be together like this was unknown to her and she could only hope it would be soon.
Abbie stepped forward as if to be closer to him and let herself fall into his arms, letting her own arms wrap around his neck. Jude was significantly taller than she was and his body was much bigger, so it was a rather enjoyable hug for Abbie. She felt engulfed in his chest and almost comforted. Letting the hug last for a minute or so, she pulled away and sighed. This was a very awkward good bye and probably one of the worst she had ever been able to give. She really did hate leaving him.

Jude could only laugh at her response. "Yeah, so did I," he said looking down for a moment with a smile, then back up at Abbie. So much had changed in such a short time. Was Jude changing? He knew he wanted to be different... but that was only around Abbie. How would this 'new' Jude sit with everyone else? It probably wouldn't.
Jude didn't really want it to either when he wasn't with Abbie. He just didn't want to be snogging random girls in the halls anymore. He genuinely liked Abbie a lot. He thought she meant more than a one time snog. She wasn't some bimbo who never really cared about anything before. She was complex, and had a smart head on her shoulders. Jude found himself debating over what he wanted, but Abbie made him want to change. It was complicated, and Jude didn't particularly like to think about it but he had to.
Abbie stopped in front of the entrance to the kitchens and Jude stopped too. She clearly wasn't about to let him see the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room, but Jude wasn't surprised. If it he were in Abbie's shoes, he sure wouldn't show any common room entrances to Jude Morte. Merlin knows what he would do with the information. It was bad enough he knew where the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw common rooms were. In fact, the Ravenclaws particularly despised the Slytherin boy because he found them the most amusing to taunt. In Jude's opinion the Ravenclaws were so serious all the time, but his idea of 'lightening up' didn't exactly sit well with the Ravenclaw students. At least Hufflepuff would get a break this time.
Abbie reached up to hug Jude and he held her small frame close to his. He was disappointed to see this night end so quickly, but he'd break a million rules just to see her again. Jude didn't care. He stuffed both hands in his pockets again and glanced over his shoulder, as if a little paranoid that anyone may descend the stairs and come out from behind the corner at any moment. Looking back to Abbie he ran a hand through his matted hair before offering a small smile. "I guess I'll... see you 'round then? Jude said softly.

"Yea, I guess so." Abbie said taking one last look to eye his figure up and down. Of course, after she had turned around to start walking to the Hufflepuff common room, she felt completely nasty for doing so. Still- other things had happened that she wasn't exactly proud of either. The idea of that prefect on the ground just pained her own heart. Even though he had been immediately hexed, he had still spotted Jude and that meant that, once he was better, he could reveal what had happened that night. He could reveal everything. But, it would be at least a day before he would heal from his wounds, so that gave them some nice time to come up with a sneaky plan to advert his claims.
Once Abbie was directly in front of the common room entrance, she looked down the corridor once more and noticed that Jude was no longer there. Apparentally he had headed off to his own common room. She sighed, looking to the ground in a disappointment, and then muttered the password for her own common room. The wall in front of her bounced to the side revealing the dark room in front of her. The only light was coming from the abnormally large fire to her left. She sauntered over there and plopped herself into one of the comfy chairs opposing the fire.
It would be different now, would it? It was just the first night of her sixth year and she had already gained her first kiss and seen her first sunrise at Hogwarts. It was a rather eventful night and, when Abbie spotted the grandfather clock, she realized how long she had been out. It was four o'clock in the morning and she hoped to Merlin that nobody had woken up and noticed her absence. Abbie rose up from the arm chair and began heading up the stairs to her dormitory.
When Abbie walked in she looked around and saw that nobody was awake. She breathed a sigh of relief. Quietly, Abbie tip-toed over to her own four poster bed. Abbie didn't even bother changing out of her day clothes and into her nighties. Instead, she silently crawled into her covers and tried to go to sleep. Although, it was rather hard. So, for the next few hours before school started, she just looked at the ceiling. Abbie wasn't positive what was going to happen the next day. She wasn't sure what she would have to do in order to get another kiss from Jude. But, one thing was definitely true- as Abbie lay there in her four poster bed and nobody else was awake, she was smiling.
