Entry One:
I've never really kept a diary before. Before I left the house this morning to go to the platform, though, I looked on my bookshelf and saw the journal that I had been given during the summer before my first year. My mom urged me to take it with me so I could record all the crazy events that happened during my years at Hogwarts. She expected me to keep it until my 7th year, but I've neglected it up until now. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to keep a diary anyway, would it? I mean, now I can add the oh-so classic "Dear Diary" at the beginning of every page and I could really be a girl for once. I've always seen these things in books and maybe it would just be best to do this. Like in "The Witch Rebound" (a series I'm really into lately) when Jess recalled her first entry of her journal and noticed that she had been a real jerk to her friends at the beginning of the year. Maybe I could be like Jess and discover amazing things through this diary. Wouldn't hurt, would it?
Anyway... this summer I recieved my acceptance letter from Hogwarts as usual. What is so special this year, you ask? Ah hah! I recieved an extra letter saying that I was dubbed Quidditch Captain! I seriously choked on my pancakes and my mom had to unclog my throat with some good wand work. Jack was laughing his head off from across the table, but the next minute he was choking on his waffles from such undying laughter. All in all, mornings are never boring at the Chalk household.
So, here I sit on the Hogwarts train with my so-called 'diary'. The landscape is truely amazing out the compartment window as the greenest field I've ever seen in my life is just swooping by. The clouds are the brightest blue too. Maybe that is a sign of a good year. Of course, I can only hope, right? I'm such a dreamer. Even as I write, Naida is trying to look over my book to see what I'm feverishly writing down. I just giggle and lean back farther away from her. It seems to frustrate her just a little bit, but she's just kidding for I can see the smirk hidden on her face.
I'm gonna go search the train. Entry Two:

Entry Three:
Well, guess who I saw today? I was on my way to the library to spice up on my Charms work (can't get enough of that stuff) and I ran into Professor Shalen. Not literally. I mean, we didn't bump heads or anything, but I saw her down the hall and I ran to talk to her. By the way, I'm totally out of shape and I need to exercise more. This summer was a bad summer to be lounging around too (especially with Quidditch coming up and all). I mean, who wants to see their Quidditch Captain lousier than they are? I mean, I'm not saying anybody on the Hufflepuff team is lousy, but as Captain you have to be better, right? Or at least in better shape than I am, right? Anyway, Shalen and I talked about some new portrait that was added to Hogwarts. What's crazy is the fact that I've seriously never seen it before either. I usually always see the pictures. I spend half my time staring at the walls during class change. But, it was kind of weird to see a new face among the halls. Geez, I thought I had this school pegged. A new picture was the last thing I would expect to see around here. So, moving on, Shalen did the last thing I wanted to do. She headed down that staircase. Yea, you know, the one that is directly at the end of the library corridor. The one that I purposefully made lots of commotion in during my third year. I swear those stairs hate me. Ever since that one night I decided to stomp the heck out of them (on a dare, of course!) they seem a little bigger and steeper. I am not imagining this either! I always fall down those stairs. And, with my already existing fear of stairs (don't even ask because even I don't know why), I've tried to avoid that specific staircase. But, no, I chose to follow Shalen down the staircase. I swear, my hand never left the wall. At the bottom of the stairs I told her goodbye and went to hurry back up the stairs. BAD IDEA. I slipped and fell. The stairs hate me. And I hate them too.
So there. We will bathe in each other's hate. HA HA.
...This is a personal apology about what I said regarding Hufflepuff Quidditch players. They are not lousy. There, now I feel better.

Entry Four:
Well, this morning I kind of woke up early, so I thought it might be nice to head off to the Owlery to see Mancini. Along the way I met a lovely gentleman. Well, he's a first year, but he's probably more man than any of the other boys in this school. He was defending another cute little first year and I swear I saw them holding hands. Anyway, he's definitely adorable and I'm going to have to keep my eye out for those two. You're probably thinking, 'Oh, but Abbie, they're five years younger than you!'. Well, technically, you can't think, but if you were thinking that, then I don't care.
Anyway, I visited Mancini for about half an hour and watched owls fly in and out of the Owlery (I counted 10!). I assume it's the mail from parents to their kids. That's always the most mail we get during the year. Start of the term mail, Holiday mail, and... well, that's it. But, it's a lot, let me tell you. I half expected to get something from Mum, but I suppose she's busy sending Jack off to Ireland. I feel really bad for her too. Just thinking about my mother like that is just upsetting to me. But, now that I think of it, she didn't exactly cry when I was boarding the Hogwarts Express this year. She more like tackled me is what it was. I think she's getting stronger. She's a great woman.
After visiting Mancini I decided to leave so that I could go down to breakfast (Mancini nipped at my arm all the way to the door. I don't reckon he wanted me to leave). But, I did and, you won't believe this, but hardly anybody was at breakfast! I'm serious! But, the sausage smelled sooo good. I couldn't pass it up! So, I went in there, ate it (I also had my schedule given to me and I shoved it in the bottom of my bookbag), and noticed Felicity sitting by herself at the Ravenclaw table. I never really talk to her all that often, so I went over there and sat with her. Our conversation was sort of short, but I foud out that I have Transfiguration with her this year! First class of the day too! Not too shabby.
So, we started walking together, but I got too excited and kind of started to run to class. Um, yeah, I ran. How stupid am I? Pretty stupid.

Entry Five:
Today was pretty cool. I went to most of my classes and successfully evaded any homework! Well, actually, I had one assignment. But, I completed it so I would have time to do what ever I wanted to do. What did I do in my spare time, you may ask? I bumped into Naida and we talked for about thirty minutes. Then I went out to the lawns and laid on the grass next to the lake. There, I watched the clouds soar by for about thirty more minutes. I roamed the school for a little bit, stopping to talk to various people, and I was about to go practice on the Quidditch Pitch, but it was dinner time at the Great Hall. Boy, those hours had passed by pretty quickly. After eating, I came back down to the common room and read a little more of the "The Witch Rebound" series. Boy, it is getting interesting- NOT. I'm at one of those segway chapters where they explain what has happened for the past few months while Jess was away in Australia. I hate those chapters. Now, after putting down the book before my head explodes, I'm writing in you. There really isn't anything to do at 8:00, is there? I'm not too sleepy.
Entry Six:
BRILLIANT IDEA! I'm going to sneak out and see the sunrise! I've never done it (there are no windows in the dungeons. Whoever made this castle did a sad job and obviously wanted to punish Helga). Besides, wouldn't it be fun sneaking out? It's my sixth year and I don't think I've ever done anything daring. Okay, so I break simple school rules such as getting seconds at dinner, but that is nothing. Before I leave this place I want to have accomplished something, right? Well, tonight is my night! I'm going to do it! Entry Seven:
I kissed Jude Morte... and I can't sleep. I can't wait until tomorrow.
