This class is for:
1st Years - Ravenclaws and Gryffindors [/u] Etienne shifted in his chair uncomfortably. He tried to concentrate with tired eyes on the piece of parchment he had in front of him. The inky words kept sliding in and out of focus but he could just about make out the title. Class Timetable - E. Diable He pressed the balls of his fists into his eyes with apparent frustration. Small stars popped up in front of them. He pulled his head away and shook it vigorously; trying to ground himself. Etienne was sitting in his rather dingy office, reading through the classes he had that very morning. He didn't have many lessons today, but still - two was enough to make him shiver with dread. " Why can't I just climb back into bed?" he almost pleaded, not quite knowing who he was meant to be talking to. You see, Professor Diable hadn't caught a wink of sleep last night. It was his first day back from the Summer Holidays and he had a week's classes and homework to organize. This in itself had taken him barely 3 hours, but at 3 o'clock in the morning he simply couldn't make himself fall asleep. So he just lay awake and went over no end of unpleasant and embarrassing memories in his head. As these things will insist on sticking in the mind, he hadn't been able to shake them. The result was Professor Diable banging his head repeatedly on the table in an attempt to knock them out of his brain. He walked over to the large cupboard that stood in the far corner of his office. He used it for storing all manner of Potions ingredients and equipment. But at the moment, he was after one small bottle in particular. He swung open its door moodily and grabbed a tiny, bright blue phial that had been sitting on the top shelf. He uncorked it, releasing large purple swirls of steam. He breathed deeply the vapour with a smile of relief, and downed the contents in one gulp. Staggering slightly, he smacked his lips with distaste. It had tasted like burnt grass. How Etienne knew the exact taste of burnt grass was hard to tell, but after the initial unpleasantness, he relaxed once more. Refreshed and enlivened he half-skipped back over to his desk to collect the piles of assorted parchment scattered across it. According to the timetable the headmaster had given out, the first class he had the task of teaching was made up of first year Ravenclaws and Gryffindors. By the looks of things, it would be their first lesson - ever. Professor Diable allowed himself a grin as he contemplated giving them the worst hour-and-a-half of their miserable little lives. Plus, it would give him a ripe opportunity to deduct as many points as he could. Aah, maybe things weren't half as bad as he thought. His office was on the same level as the Potion's classroom (The Dungeons) so his walk was not a lengthy one. Taking long paces he was there in no time. He strode into the room with an almost bored air and surveyed the students already assembled there with dislike etched into every line of his face. Reaching the front of class he slammed the books he was carrying down on his desk and took a hard look at the tiny faces looking back at him. He noticed there were a lot of empty seats and he knew that he must still be quite early. He suspected those already gathered were just eager to start their magical education. " Morning class," he said, smiling quite wickedly.

Morning was starting and people were getting up think of the first day of school. People walked around the dorm room as the sun rays hit into different windows. People were getting dressed and going to the comon room. Lindsey set in bed and looked outside. She looked at the lake as the beautiful ray of sun hit the lake making it sparkle with beauty, and reflect off onto the castle. The ray finally came into the window and she sheilded her eyes. She looked at the forest which also sparkled with dew and the dried as the moring went on.
Lindsey set on her bed and thrown on her cloths for the day. She though of the other day when Professor Todd helped her with Emerick. How his owl was so beautiful and white as snow. She then though of how His owl hit William, Lindsey Black Owl, in the head with her wing. She though of the story he had told her of his time at this school. She laughed at the though, her blonde hair was a mess. She took a brush and brushed it out, made sure her robe was clean and cleaned her wand. She then grabbed her books and headed into the common room.
She walked down, each step graceful and lovely. She was a pretty girl, she was always clean, but she was also very crazy. She had a crazy life and she loved it. She walked threw the port hole and headed to the great hall, as she walked she could smell the wonderful food that ladened the great hall. As she set she ate a full breakfest only to leave after a few slytherins laughed at her. "Stupid idiots" She whispered as she walked down to the class.
She heard her foot steps as she walked down the stone steps and walked down to the class room. As she entered she heard a Good Morning, she was not late and looked up her blonde hair tossed back. Raven claws, that ment one thing, Marcel would be in here, She would save him a spot next to her, She looked at the teacher. "Good Morning"

"C'mon, you little knit-wit; make my day. I dare you, I darrreeee youu to try to get a hit on me!" The Slytherin boy produced his jaw, pointing to it with his index finger before bursting out in laughter with his other friends once again. He grabbed Marcel's book, throwing it across the corridor floor, it finally skidding to a stop by slamming against the opposite wall. When the Ravenclaw scrambled to get it, the other boy stood in his way; eyes narrowed and leveled. The Slytherin growled at him, in a dog's tone, before laughing and walking off with the rest of his buddies. Time running out before his class started, Marc hurried, collected his things, and continued down the hallway to Professor Diable's classroom.
Other Gryffindor and Ravenclaw students already sat in their desk, awaiting the teacher's commands, when Marcel walked through the door. He looked up to the teacher with pained eyes and a bright smile, before finally sitting in his seat. At the front of the other Ravenclaw boys, he quickly pulled out his book, dusted it off, and took out his parcel and quill pen as well. Sitting up straight, and pushing his glasses closer to the edge of his face, Marcel looked the part of a teacher's pet. He didn't really mind the stereotype. After all, why not be the one that graduates the class and actually understands it all?! While all the other boys were clowning around with chickenhead girls and sneaky, forbidden potions and spells, he would be doing his best to get his magical education whatever way possible.
The boy searched, with his green eyes, for his girlfriend Lindsey. She had to have arrived in class by now; that girl was one of the smartest in the class, and usually one of the first to arrive. Marcel would have been too, if he hadn't been intercepted by a group of bullies, who felt like it was open season on first years today. It pained him to feel lost and alone when it came to dominance from the older students. When he caught them doing wrong to anyone else, like he had today, Marcel would defend them and try his hardest to keep the beating/ranting/mental torturing from happening. Of course, the course of action usually turned back to him, instead.
Lindsey finally looked his way, and a wide grin fell upon his face. All thoughts of bullying and mayhem were forgotten, in the soft-toned face of Lindsey Brechin. He waved slightly, before straightening up and looking at the teacher. "Oh yeah, G'morning Professor Diable! How are you doing this lovely morning?" Marcel rolled his eyes as the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw boys joined together to hoot and holler at his expense. They couldn't be being mean to I, I'm sure they don't mean to be crude. Looking in the positive direction of things always helped him clean his mind of things besides his schoolwork.

The slow trickle of students gradually ceased. The next time Professor Diable lifted his eyes from his class notes, the empty seats he had before scowled at, were filled. He averted his eyes from the classroom scene once more to consult his notes. Now, what lesson would be befitting an introduction to Hogwarts for First Years? It needed to be at least a little difficult, to shock them into getting their act together. But also, it needed to be something their pathetic little minds could cope with. He would like to get through at least one lesson this morning thankyou very much. Hmm... so a fairly easy potion then, I'll just level it out with a mountain of homework. But first Etienne, the start-of-the-year pep talk.
"Hello class, I'm so honoured that the last dregs of your number have bothered to grace us with their presence - at last. However, I do not remember asking any of you to sit down, but please; correct me if I'm wrong." He spoke with a strong South of France accent, and almost drawled each word. He wasn't even being condescending, he simply gave off the air that those assembled around him really weren't worth his time and effort.
He cast another look of disgust over towards the pupils sat in front of him, and after looking through all the lesson plans he had in front of him he finally settled on the Potion he thought was just right. Of course, as any good Potion-maker would realise, it had to be the - Forgetfulness Potion. It was extremely basic, and even the half-wits of the class should be able to cope with it. With a lazy flick of his wand, he wrote it as a title on the board next to where he was standing. The chalk immediately leapt into action and began to write. It finished its work with a ear-piercing creak of nails down a blackboard.
"Are we all standing now? Well, I hope you remember that for our next lesson. Because, you may get soft treatment with the other teachers in school because you are new here, but unlike them - I simply don't like any of you. So do as you are told, complete every single quilled letter to the highest of your ability, and you won't give me any reason to resort to punishment." He pronounced the last word with particular relish. "However, good work will be rewarded with more than just escape from sanction. If I'm anything, I'm fair. So remember, this lesson will be probably tell me more about you all than a whole year of Potion's lessons ever could. Even more reason to keep you mouths closed and your heads down - you really don't want to make an enemy of me." He paused to lay down his noted on the desk, and then continued. "You will be set homework tasks, which will be expected to be completed to the highest standard your pathetic brains can muster. In fact, you will be given your first essay today."
Anyway, back to the lesson in hand... " He gestured towards the title on the board. "Assuming you can all read, does anyone in here know anything at all about what the words on the board describe?
Oh, and I almost forgot - welcome to Hogwarts! And congratulations on being sorted into the two houses I despise most...
... you may be seated."
He clapped his hands together and rubbed them enthusiastically.

She saw Marcel and stood with him when the teacher told them to stand back up. He seemed nice at first glance, but looks could be so wrong. She listened to him, and then saw the stuff on the board. She looked at the teacher again and she saw many people, some she had met and some she had desided not to meet. The teach seemed abit hateful, but this was the first day, he was probably nerves like the other people in the room. She had everything ready and looked at her book for a split second. She then looked back up and waited for the teacher to talk.
Forgetfulness Potion Ok, this was todays class, wonderful. It sounded hard, but she would do her best and it was probably easy. She waited as she heard what would happen today. HOMEWORK...On the first day She only though, Well at least Marc and her could work together, they always did She listen intently and as she heard the horriffic sound, she winced as her ears wanted to explode. She then looked stright at him, she was not one to be scared easy, she hope none here were scared easy, but that was a silly wish.
She set down, as she set her hair cascaded in her face and her blue eyes were hidden. She looked at her books and opened it up to the spell. She read it, and about it. ((I have no idea what the book says)) She followed with her blue eyes and then finally looked at the professor, Where are we to get the supplies She though to herself as she watched him. She waited for anything he would give them if he would give them anything at all. It would be a great shame if he didn't and how would they find them if he didn't. She waited for his instrudctions.
She looked at Marcel and gave him a smile. She gave his hand a pat and looked him in the eyes. She still gave him great thanks for helping her with her problem. She then looked at the professor and waited for furth instruction. She needed something more to do, and she knew sitting here would not help her or any of them learn anything. Oh God, if she were to say that out loud, oh she would be in big trouble. She gave Marcel another smile and then looked again at the professor and waited for more stuff.
