ABOUT THE CHARACTER Name: Megan Lily Meade Age: 14 Gender: Female Year: 4 Celebrity: Audrey Kitching
Facial Properties: Meg has a very pretty face, though she does consider her eyes to be her most fetching feature. They are wide, and brown-green in color. Often shifting to other colors, from grey to light brown to a bright green, they might be considered windows to her soul. They are the only true way to tell what mood she’s in, how she’s feeling on any given day. Her cheek bones are high, giving her face a thin look. Her forehead is slightly wider then her chin, making her face appear slightly oval shaped. The skin is pale, on her face as well as all over her body, though she has a light sprinkling of freckles across the bridge of her nose. Her nose is rather stubby and small, definitely not her favorite feature about herself. Her lips are an average size, full and pink.
Color rises easily to her cheeks when she is angry or embarrassed. Her hair is dark brown with other various colored streaks and fairly long, streaming down to her mid back. It’s sleek, smooth, and often perfect, though Meg doesn’t care much for appearances.
Physique: Meg is actually fairly short for her age. She stands at barely five feet tall, below the heads of most of her classmates. She is pretty easy to spot though, her features are unmistakable. She is also fairly skinny; her figure is slim and petite, rather compact. She has smooth, unblemished skin all over, no tattoos or things like that, she’s much too young for that.
Personality: Despite her rebellious appearance, Meg is actually very smart, practical, and reassured, Meg just might strike you as the sort that completely has everything under control and doesn’t need an ounce of your help. She is calm, things don’t easily phase her unless it’s a major threat or problem, in which case she will set her face, bite her lip, and trudge through that burden like it’s nothing, though it might kill her inside. Her calm makes some people nervous, causing her to be slightly intimidating. She is deathly shy and has few friends because of it. She simply doesn’t get along with others, doesn’t know if they like her or not. She’s terribly insecure, thinking people are always judging her and what she does, despite the fact that she ties to seem like she doesn’t care at all what they think.
She is very together. She’s the type of person that knows what’s going on, who’s doing it, and why it’s happening. Her practicality also plays a big role in who she is. She sees things as a puzzle, as a big challenge that needs solving. She just wants everything to fit into place, wants everything to be perfect. She is ever the perfectionist. If something isn’t....well, perfect, she freaks. Perfection is easily accomplished, but hardly retained. That’s a quote by Meg herself that so describes her in every aspect of her life. She strives to be perfect, putting up this sort of front so that you won’t see how horrible she is inside, how imperfect she might actually be.
Her worst fear, therefore, is failure, and she tries desperately to distance herself from anyone and anything that would cause her failure. Strangely, there is another side to her perfect, teacher’s pet attitude. She does have a love for pranks. She may love them, but, being as intelligent as she is, knows how to set them up so she can’t and won’t get caught. Actually, her most prominent trait is her intelligence; it might just be what you notice first about her. She is ‘booksmart’ rather then ‘streetsmart’, but she knows a little about everything. She was studying magic before she even came to Hogwarts, and even now still devours any book she can find in the library on any subject, and has read ‘Hogwarts, A History’ a countless amount of times.
She is determined, though, as well. She has come over several obstacles in her life, and knows what it feels like to have to really have to work to get what you want, really have to push and push to make your point. Her mom even thought her unable to get through Wizarding School, thinking her far too weak to ever make it in such a tight atmosphere. Meg seems to be proving her wrong every day, earning excellent grades and doing wonderful things; despite what some people think would have happened. Also, she’s stubborn. Very much stuck for what she likes, once she gets an idea in her head, she is not likely to let go of it, much less let someone else change her mind on that certain topic.
She has specific beliefs and views on the world, and those are not easily altered. She’s very much a tom-boy, not caring for makeup or fancy clothes. She’s the type of girl to get up, brush her hair quickly, and run out of her dorm, being the first one to class. Oh, and she’s always early. She doesn’t like being late, and hates people who are late for things....so she just arrives early for most things.
Likes: Meg absolutely loves order. She doesn’t like to see things messed up, doesn’t like to see things that aren’t organized or ‘perfect’. She also loves that word...perfect. You can hear her using it almost daily, if you hang around with her enough. She also loves learning anything new, acquiring any new skill. She will tackle something she doesn’t know how to do with so much enthusiasm she might seem like an almost spaz. She loves reading and writing, and can often be seen outside during weekends, under the Whomping Willow or by the lake, if she feels like it.
Dislikes: Meg hates people don’t have goals. She hates people who don’t want to try to achieve the greatest potential, and, instead, they would rather sit there and mope about how horrible their life is. Believe me; Meg has had a rough life. And she still strives to be the absolute best she can be. She hates imperfection, hates things that aren’t in perfect working order and perfect style. She also dislikes it when people order her around, unless they’re a professor or something.
History: Meade. The name meant blood, meant pureblooded witches and wizards from century to century. Meg has always had a name to live up to...even if she could have never hoped to. Her father was what could only be expected of a pure-blooded good wizard. Her Mother was a beautiful, quite younger aged woman. Both were perfect, both had everything they could have desired, could have possibly ever wanted from life. Then along came Meg. From the start, they were not pleased. She was ugly and clumsy and though, during her teen years she did grow to be beautiful, she was always a disgrace to them...a scar on their perfect record.
The Meade's and many light families were good family friends, it was no surprise for the children, even when young, to spend time together. She made friends easily and liked this world. Since both of her parents were magical, she was exposed to that world early on. Though it wasn't always pretty, Meg saw what she wanted within that world. She saw power, she saw respect. But, most of all, she saw it as the one achievement that her parents would actually be proud of, the one achievement that her parents might actually think made her....worthy. At age eight, she knew what she wanted to be. She wanted to be just like daddy and mommy. She wanted to be a witch. She could only hope.
Of course, at the time, she didn't know what that meant. Her dad was an achoholic. Her childhood years were rather lonesome. Her parents were constantly bickering, for, depsite their aura of perfection, their love was fast-fading. And here was this clumsy, ugly little girl. And all she could do was run to her room when they started to fight, and cry until it was over. Except, sometimes she didn't make it in time. Her dad would start beating her mom, and, of course, Meg had to help. So she would try to stop him....and he knew advanced magic. There was no stopping him when he was angry. At age ten, her arms and legs were marked with scars and bruises. The only thing she could do was put on the act and hide them. For she knew that, soon, she would be able to fight back.
At age eleven, she recieved her letter to Hogwarts. The fateful day was not a surprise, though she sat in her room, on the large bed, fingering the parchment for hours after its arrival. That was, until her father came in on one of his angry rages and tore it up. Her mom understood what was going on, for the most part. Her dad didn't want her to learn magic....because he was afraid, one day, she would come seeking revenge. She never had been the scared soul Marie was. She had a temper, and she used it. But Marie managed to, when Daniel was in one of his nicer tempermants, get the key to the vault at the wizarding bank, and she took Meg for her supplies. For Meg, it was a dream come true. Finally, she would be free of this hell. And finally, she would be learning how to fight back.
Her first year was marked by conflicts. She was sorted into a house. At once, she began to be teased and made fun of, though she wasn't one of the non purebloods. Because she had so often been the one who had been made of, so often been the one that people could look at and instantly start laughing. She cried, but only where nobody could see, and nobody could hear. Nobody knew her pain...nobody ever would know it.
ABOUT YOU Name: Lindsy Years of Experience: 1 Year & 4 Months Sample Post: ((Another character] Artemis found the necklace that she wore constantly, around her neck, her fingers fiddling with it slightly, as was her habit to. An indication that she was either nervous or bored, but not many people knew how to read her anyhow, so they would not have guessed what the habit might mean. The necklace was a silver crescent moon with embedded rubies, red, one of her favorite colors. It was small, no bigger than her finger nail on her thumb, but still, she loved it.
She was aware suddenly of how much emotion she seemed to be showing, instead of keeping up her constant walls, the things she was so used to hiding behind. Because she knew that if she ever told anyone about what had happened......she would have no one. Not as if she had a friend now....but at the very least, she had the chance to obtain a few friends.
She was also aware of the way she seemed a bit....spaced, as if she wasn't quite completely and fully there. True, she was distracted, but the moonlight....the darkness, it often made her remember...even when she had no desire to remember at all.
She raised an eyebrow and smirked slightly at the rather formal introduction. Of course, she had given him no time to ask her own name, but her introduction would have been far more casual. She knew nothing of the people he as being his parents, but, she had lived in the States so much of her life, it was only to be expected.
The silence began again, but it was not the awkward sort when you felt as if you were required to speak. It was a peaceful silence...the wind rustling through the trees, the sound of the animals as they shifted in their sleep. Her eyes shifted between the trees as the call of an owl filled the air, and her gaze found the large owl perched carefully on the branch of a large oak.
"Yes, I was born there." she nodded as her gaze shifted back to him when his question was voiced. "I lived there from birth until I was around nine." she offered some information. "And can I assume where you were born, by your accent?" she asked, his accent was German, but that didn't necessarily mean he had been born there.
Her ears picked up another sound. The muffled sound of rhythmic foot falls.....someone else. Whether he was human or animal, she could not be sure, but she was certain it was not her imagination. She glanced over her shoulder, scanning the worded area, but saw nothing.
