ABOUT THE CHARACTER Name: Emerick Sullivan Age: 27 Gender: Male Class: Charms Celebrity: Brooks Paschal
Facial Properties: Sullivan has very pronounced facial features. His cheekbones are high set and his chin is squared off, his brow enhanced by dark eyebrows. His nose is pointed, and his ears stick out just a bit. Sullivan is usually clean-shaven, but has been seen time to time with a thin dusting of stubble. His eyes are stony gray, peering from his face with what others may consider intelligence, malevolence, or indifference. Sullivan keeps his neck-length hair clean and perfectly neat. Not a dark brown strand is ever out of place.
Physique: Sullivan is unnaturally tall, and sturdily built. He is physically fit, as like all else, he keeps himself trim and neat. His figure is intimidating at the best of times. His skin is kept to a nice, even tan, but not so dark as to suggest he enjoys the outdoors. Sullivan is always standing strait, or sitting with like stiffness, gazing down on everyone else. His step is quick and purposeful, exuding an air of cold dignity. His usual attire consists of business like wizarding robes or a suit and tie.
Personality: Professor Emerick Sullivan can be described as businesslike, malign, efficacious, and shrewd. He lives by a strict conduct of regulations and guidelines. He puts much stock in the rules and doesn’t believe in easy punishment. He does not hesitate to take disciplinary action and will often victimize students that he dislikes. Prof. Sullivan is a hard teacher, and I regret to say that he is not always fair.
On his own, Sullivan tends to be more laid back. He likes his own space, it gives him time to rest an overloaded brain. He will often take to the grounds, and sometimes even the forbidden forest, though he will not go very far. He has been known to visit the Hogs Head or the Three Broomsticks in the evening, whichever one is more devoid of his colleagues. He is not a heavy drinker but will never object to a bottle of firewhiskey. He is impatient with other people, and so likes to exempt himself from social situations.
Sullivan is very intellectual, he can be seen ready heavy tome in ancient languages or volumes upon volumes of study subjects. He is very interested in the past, and of coarse the things his own subject deals with. He enjoys a stimulating conversation or historically based debate. The cogs in his mind are always turning, but all to often the process’s results are more often directed towards more creative and mentally tortuous methods of punishment.
Sullivan is an introvert, and therefore only concerned for his own wellbeing. He cares very little for what is going on that is not under his power to dictate. His power hungry days are over and he is contented enough with having procured his position at Hogwarts. It gives him access to the school’s expansive library and up front opportunities to study this, one of the oldest buildings in Britain. He regards history as the utmost of importance, and he is fiercely protective over the various artifacts in the school. Vandals have a special place in his books, and he will go through the most stringent of lengths to see them caught and properly punisheded.
Likes: His wand ( 12 and a half inches, willow, dragon heartstring), which he reveres as the most important aspect of any wizards career, and expects other to do the same. Professor Sullivan loves picking favorites, whom he will dote upon in his own subtle ways. Owls, because they are quick, efficient, and work in silence and dignity, much like himself. Defense against the Dark arts.
Dislikes: Animals without any practical use. Cats, for example. He has little patience for stupid questions, repeating himself, and late assignments. The same can be said anything irrelevant or causing clutter. He dislikes people who talk endlessly. Among these people fall the sub categories of Reporters, solicitors, and overzealous waiters and waitresses.
History: As a boy, Emerick lived in a small family in a manor that was far too big for them. His family was pureblood, his cousins and aunts numerous, and his grandparents ostentatious. Where as Frederick was one of two children in the Sullivan household, his father was one of 11. His fathers parents were desperate to display their wealth in all ways possible. Their eldest son, Frederick Sullivan, was Emerick’s father. He had made a lovely pureblood marriage, was their pride and joy, and the son to which the majority of their fortune would go. His other ten siblings were left scrambling for the rest. And what a clever bunch the Sullivan children were.
Emerick and his sister were caught in the middle of a family where marrying cousins wasn’t so bad. After all, purebloods weren’t that diverse, and they were all pretty much related some how. His aunts and uncles wanted money for their children, and for themselves. If they wouldn’t get it from their parents, they’d get it from their siblings children. In the years before Emerick turned 11, his life was a blur of play dates and formal parties, where he was forced to meet and greet with numerous people he didn’t know. At first, he thought his family was simply well liked. But he quickly learned they were all after the Sullivan fortune, which made the events all the more odious than they had been. It was these occasions that Emerick learned to loath, and he learned the value of time with no other people present.
When Emerick finally received his letter form Hogwarts, he was releived to be away from the large Sullivan estate and their endless garden parties. Equipped with the finest equipment any family could buy, Emerick was off to Hogwarts. He became marginally popular, marginally happy, and did all the marginally important things that teens did during their school years. He went through a handful of girlfriends and groups of regular friends. He received top grades, and when he graduated, many job offers.
He went into the Ministry of Magic after graduating. He started low, and attempted to build his way up. But, by his 5th year there, he had only managed Head of The Department for Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, a job which he utterly despised. Animals and beings which he regarded as quarrelsome and pointless had become a point of everyday life. He quit, and began a whirlwind of job searching. He lived at home during this time. He made a point to work late hours and early mornings to have excuses to leave his family to their own devices.
In another year, Emerick had moved into his own home, a comfortable two-story in the rich area of a wizarding community. His sister and her daughter moved in with him briefly after her second divorce. He alienated his parents by lending his sister the money she needed to get back on her feet. To Emericks amusement, with his relations with his parents partially severed, invitations to parties and teas soon ceased. After another 3 years, he came to apply at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He obtained a job, and has been working, to his complete satisfaction, at the school for a year.
Resume: Emerick worked for 5 years in the Magical Creatures office in the ministry, one of those year as head of office. After quitting, he worked for a year out of his home, breeding a line of post owls. While the owls were bred for stamina and well tempered, the role of entrepreneur held little determination for him, and he sold the business and applied instead at Gringotts. This job brought him curse-breaking in a variety of magically significant places like Easter Island and the ruins of Sumer. It occupied him for two years, before he came back and applied at Hogwarts, where he has been working for a year.

I'm sorry, but the position for "Defense Against the Dark Arts" is reserved for now.

If it becomes unreserved in the future, I would like that position.
For now I suppose I'll change it to Charms then. It doesn't really seem to fit Emerick, but I don't want him to teach potions because then he'd seem like a complete Snape copycat, as much as I tried to stay away from that :/
